About the role
In this role, as Financial Controller you will lead, manage and develop an experienced team of 8 finance professionals, ensuring we have good financial control and discipline as well as the accuracy of results.
Your responsibilities will be wide and varied. You’ll own the management reporting, the month end process and our financial systems, as well as the preparation of quarterly re-forecasts and annual budgets. However, you’ll always be looking for, and implementing, areas for improvement.
This is a perfect opportunity for an ambitious, proactive individual with a desire to make an impact on a forward-thinking organisation. You’ll use your excellent interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders up to Director level.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, manage and develop a team of 8 finance professionals
· Ownership of management reporting and the month end process
· Responsibility for ensuring good financial control and discipline and the accuracy of results
· Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
· Ownership of financial systems
· Provision and presentation of divisional and departmental performance
· Preparation of quarterly re-forecasts and annual budgets
· Cash flow management including preparation /review monthly cash forecasts
· Be able to identity and action process improvements
· Identify and understand potential areas for improvement in the working capital cycle
· Liaise with external auditors, prepare annual accounts, associated statutory reporting, and run the audit process
· Tax compliance including:
o Prepare / review corporate tax filings and work alongside professional advisers
o VAT return review
· Build strong relationships with and work closely with senior stakeholders
· MI reporting development
· Management of day-to-day banking relationships; prepare / review reporting information for the bank, including covenant compliance
· Ad-hoc projects to support the FD
· Own commercial relationships with key suppliers
Skills & experiences
· ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA Qualified (5 – 10 years PQE)
· Highly ambitious proactive individual
· Previous experience in a telecoms / technology business is desirable
· Ability to work successfully as part of a team
· Excellent communicator
· Strong commercial acumen
· Builds strong working relationships with colleagues up to Director level
· Excellent Excel skills
· Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
· Ability to build relationships with key suppliers
· Looking for continuous improvements
· A good listener creating an environment for feedback to be given
· Be credible through integrity, accuracy and a detailed understanding of the business
